Lahore High Court Directs Schools to Arrange Buses
Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court has directed the Punjab government to ensure all schools provide buses for students. Schools that fail to comply will be sealed.
The directive aims to promote shared transportation systems and reduce the use of individual cars. This initiative addresses traffic congestion and smog. Justice Karim emphasized that schools must take responsibility for implementing this change, ensuring a healthier environment for children.
During the hearing, the Advocate General Punjab shared additional anti-smog measures. These include shutting down plants burning plastic tires, a major carbon emission source.
Several such plants have already been demolished, with the remaining ones to close within ten days. Justice Karim expressed satisfaction with these actions and stressed the importance of quick measures against pollution.
These efforts aim to reduce smog and air pollution across Punjab. Justice Karim called for these policies to extend beyond Lahore to the entire province.
